The story

Adam Coburn grew up feeding CDs into Monster Rancher to see what monster grew out of each one. In 2008 he held the first Android phone and the idea clicked: every product already carries a barcode, and every corner of town is a real place worth fighting over.

He shipped early versions from 2019 to 2022, then set it aside for family and other projects. In 2026 he came back to it with AI as a collaborator, and as a solo developer built the full game, from the Unity app to the server that runs every battle.

About AI

BattleMaps uses generative AI for parts of its art and audio: each fighter's painted portrait is AI-made, and the voice of Ali, the in-game guide, is AI-generated. The game design, the code, the systems and every creative decision are Adam's.
